Mike Boyle Slide Guard Review

By Mike Boyle

High Noon Holsters

To bring out the best, every good pistol needs an equally good holster.  High Noon Holsters, of Palm Harbor, Florida, puts out an extensive line of both cowhide and horsehide holsters, and I was fortunate to obtain a sample to evaluate with the Para-Ordnance Tac-Four.

For this project, Michael of High Noon graciously provided an example of their Slide Guard holster.  The Slide Guard is an open top scabbard worn on the strong side, which evolved from the earlier Topless holster.  To protect the wearer from contact with the hammer and slide, leather on the inboard side of the holster is extended to form a

shield between the pistol and body.  I can live with an occasional bite on the love handles, but ruining shirts is another issue altogether!  The Slide Guard effectively solves this problem with no adverse effect on comfort or draw efficiency.

For superior concealment qualities, the Slide Guard features a 15-degree butt forward FBI cant.  The bottom of the holster is open to prevent debris and moisture from accumulating.  Precise molding and an adjustable tension screw keep your pistol exactly where it's supposed to be during vigorous physical activity.  Available colors include black, tan, and natural.

High Noon holsters are covered by a lifetime warranty and are offered for most popular handguns.  The best news of all is that High Noon holsters represent one of the best buys in quality holsters.  Be sure to check them out!
