The name High Noon is reminiscent Of a Gary Cooper western, leading one to expect this company's products to be replete with cowboy regalia. Not so! Rather, the folks at
High Noon have a number of offerings to interest those who carry their handguns concealed. I contacted High Noon when working on a Smith & Wesson J-frame article and was impressed enough with the two holsters they supplied to want to share them with my column's readers. I am a fan of easy-on-and-off holsters, and High Noon produces a good example of the paddle holster genre. |
|
 | Cut from a single piece of horsehide, the Speedy Spanky includes all the right accessories: polymer sight track, reinforced mouth for easy reholstering, covered trigger guard and a tension adjustment screw that places pressure on the trigger guard.
High Noon's Speedy Spanky uses a stiff, amply sized polymer paddle that attaches to the reinforced mouth. The paddle has two tabs to secure it inside the waistband. And, to add even more function to the paddle, the two hex screws attaching the paddle to the holster can be loosened, and the holster's angle can be customized by the wearer.! |

 | | | The other J-frame toter was a pocket holster, appropriately called the Pocket Grabber. Simplicity itself, the Pocket Grabber is also from a single piece of horsehide that ends up pretty much rectangular after it is folded and sewn. On the holster, the outline of Smith & Wesson's little revolver is completely covered by a textured synthetic material.
The texture seems to serve dual purposes. It provides a tacky feeling that aids in keeping the holster in the pocket when the revolver is drawn. |

| Also, at least in my pocket, the synthetic seems to soften and/or mask the outline of the revolver's cylinder for a touch more concealability. Try as I might, I could not persuade the Pocket Grabber to come out of the pocket during the draw. A good idea, well done. On both holsters the edges are well burnished and the stitching solidly done. Both showed a moderate amount of moulding. The Speedy Spanky arrived in tan while the Pocket Grabber was natural. These examples of High Noon's product were certainly just the ticket for carrying the J-frame |
