Bob Arganbright : Sky High Review

By Bob Arganbright
Combat Handguns
September 2000 Page 62

When we began the handgun hide column 12 to 13 years ago, there was only a handful of manufacturers along with a few custom makers. Today, I'm continually finding new holster makers who are turning out well made holsters of excellent design. One such company is High Noon Holsters in Florida.

      We reviewed their
Sky High. The Sky High positions the pistol high on the strong side hip for better concealment and is FBI raked to facilitate the drawing motion. For safety the pouch fully encloses the trigger guard to prevent premature access, yet is cut to present the pistol for a full shooting grip with first hand contact, which is very important for an efficient draw. Security is provided by the usual thumb break strap that has a spring steel reinforced tab, to ensure a positive thumb release. For additional security, there's an adjustable tension device placed against the pistols trigger guard. The holster is neatly hand molded for a perfect glove like fit. Its one of the most finely detail holsters I have ever seen. This holster is made of one of the best grade of cowhides i have come across, which is dyed a beautiful midnight black. All edges have been neatly finished and points of stress are double stitched to ensure durability. This is fast becoming one of my most treasured pieces of leather in my collection.

Overall this High Noon Holster shows remarkable design and execution. I look forward to trying other examples of their work.
