 Bob Arganbright : Topless Review

High Noon Holsters
June 2005 Combat Handguns

High Noon Holsters now offers horsehide as an option.  I have recently been evaluating their new Topless, an open top, two belt slot strong side pancake hip holster for the 1911.  Constructed of natural un-dyed horsehide, the Topless is a light tan in color with contrasting yellow thread.  The belt slots are sized for a 1.5-inch belt and their placement in the tabs extending from the leading and trailing edges provide superior weight distribution while pulling the holstered pistol into one's body for superior concealment.  The open top pouch is detail molded for the pistol to provide a front sight tunnel and to securely retain the pistol with a tight friction fit.  For those desiring additional security, there is an adjustable tension device at the base of the trigger guard.  A large tab on the top back side of the holster is molded to secure the thumb safety lever in the "on" position, as well as to provide user comfort when the pistol is worn high and close on the strong side hip. The belt slots place the Topless at a slight FBI angle for ease of drawing from the high hip position.

The triggerguard is fully enclosed to prevent premature trigger access and the gun butt is presented for a full shooting grip with first hand contact.  The High Noon Holsters Topless model is an excellent choice for concealment of a large frame pistol for those who find an inside-the-pants holster unbearable.  And the horsehide should last a lifetime.
